At URBOND, our Child Education improves access to primary education and advances diversity and equality in the Republic of Guinea. It does this by improving school facilities, building schools, supporting the recruitment of teachers (IT, English, etc.) and running workshops to overcome socio-economic barriers and disparity.
Guinea is known to be one of the poorest countries in the world. As a result the illiteracy rate is high, and the educational system poor. According to the World Bank 2018 statistics, the population literacy rates in Guinea is just 39.62%. This means the majority of the population is illiterate. Therefore, URBOND’s Child Education was set to provide education in this area and address this concerning rate of illiteracy, amongst other issues.
In addition to this, many children have to make incredibly arduous and hazardous journeys to reach school. There is gender disparity in access to education. And many come from families who are so poor the children must carry out labour to support the family instead of attending classes.
We are on a mission through our Child Education, therefore ensuring all children gain access to a safe education which will give them vital opportunities for the future.
Fundraising is central to enabling us to carry out our vital work and ensuring these children, and generations beyond them, have access to education. Whether it’s building and equipping a school in a safe place; training and paying a teacher fairly; educating a community; supporting a child who desperately needs it; levelling gender disparity; or the funding may contribute towards our other essential work in the region, funding really does go a long way to supporting those who would otherwise be left in the dark.
Unrestricted grants and donations have a huge impact on the work we can carry out. If you can help us give the gift of education through a grant or funding partnership, we really would love to hear from you. We’ll happily provide any information you require, and, in return, can offer you:
There is no greater gift than the gift of education, and you can help us to provide this where it is desperately needed. Get in touch with us today, and see how you could change lives for the better.
